Sengoku: Road to Unification

Sengoku is a turn-based strategy game set in sixteenth-century Japan, written for Kalgoorlie Retro Gaming. You lead one of 28 clans in the 1560 or 1582 scenario. Each month you govern your provinces, raise and train soldiers, make alliances and send ninja against your rivals. Invade a neighbouring province and you fight the battle yourself on a hex field. Hold all 38 provinces to win.

It has the same retro look as The Broken Seal: a sixteen-colour screen, portraits for every lord and governor, and its own music.

The current version is 1.2.0 (4 November 2026).

Two editions, one game

Edition Where Players
Browser https://retro.theiguru.au/sengoku/ (nothing to install) One player against the computer, or multi-player games with other people
Desktop Windows and Linux, from https://retro.theiguru.au/sengoku/desktop/ One player against the computer

The two editions have the same rules, screens, music and save format. The browser edition is a port of the desktop's Free Pascal code to TypeScript, and both run the same self-test; a battle fought from the same start comes out the same in both. Export and Import move a campaign between the two editions as a save file: see Saves.
